A BEAUTIFUL
Georgian Wedding Venue
Nestled in the beautiful county of Richmond, Middleton Lodge is a stunning Georgian Country House Estate set in 200 acres of glorious North Yorkshire countryside.
Middleton Lodge is two wedding venues rolled into one: a traditional country style manor house and the beautifully restored Fig House. As a wedding photographer, I’d say that both are equally stunning for photos!
Why Middleton Lodge is the Perfect Country Wedding Venue
Everything about this wedding venue is straight out of a fairytale. If you’re thinking of having a Middleton Lodge wedding, my advice is to do it! If Middleton Lodge doesn’t give you that fuzzy, warm ‘this is the one’ feeling when you come to visit, then I don’t know what will.
Photographing weddings at Middleton Lodge would be a dream come true!
Weddings at The Main House
If you choose to have your wedding at The Main House at Middleton Lodge your ceremony can be in their stunning traditional drawing room, Grand Hall or even under the pavilion outside in warmer months. The Main House is a privately owned family home so you’ll be sure to feel cosy and comfortable here. The character of the house is a great feature for your wedding photography!
There is a stunning sweeping staircase in the Grand Hall which is the perfect spot for photographs, whether you choose to have your ceremony there or not.
Depending on the size and style of your celebrations you can choose to host your wedding reception in the Hall or in an outside marquee for up to 200 people!
Middleton Lodge has a late-night licensed bar until 2 am so you can party without disturbing a soul. The Main House has onsite accommodation too. With 15 bedrooms available your guests won’t have to stumble too far at the end of the night!
I would love to photograph a Middleton Lodge wedding at The Main House one day!
WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT
The Fig House at Middleton Lodge
The building is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. It’s light and spacious and so versatile when it comes to the style of wedding you’re looking for. The two-acre Walled Garden is nothing short of breathtaking. I can’t tell you how excited I was when I saw this venue for the first time. I could have spent hours taking photographs in those beautiful gardens alone!
The Fig House – A Destination Wedding at Home
Let’s think back to when you first got engaged. Maybe you had a brief moment in the planning stages where you thought a destination wedding would be the way to go. Then you realised it would be harder to plan and you wouldn’t be able to spend the day with all of your family. Well, with a wedding at The Fig House it will feel like you’ve been transported to somewhere magical like Italy or the South of France. You’re bound to have an amazing day!
Each area within the Fig House offers its own unique qualities for wedding photography.
Wedding Prep in The Potting Shed
You can get ready for your wedding day at The Potting Shed which is right next door to the Fig House and overlooks the stunning garden too! This is the perfect spot to stay as you can get some amazing photos with bridesmaids or family outside before your ceremony.
The Boiler House Bar Ceremony
The Boiler House is a cosy bar area with squishy sofas, perfect for elderly wedding guests who need to sit somewhere comfortable during the day! At the opposite end of the bar, there is plenty of space for a wedding ceremony seating up to 90 guests.
Wedding Photography in The Walled Garden
There are endless opportunities for wedding photographs in the Walled Garden. Wandering around the garden during your couple shoot means you’re never too far away from the action and you can watch as your guests play lawn games and enjoy themselves in the sun.
The Fig House Wedding Breakfast and Reception
The main section of the Fig House, Middleton Lodge is an amazing flexible space that’s full of natural light. The unique arch windows wrap around three sides of the room making it perfect for natural light wedding photography.
The space allows you to have your wedding breakfast for up to 130 guests. Long trestle tables look incredible at the Fig House and this layout is perfect for capturing guests’ reactions during wedding speeches as nobody is blocking the view of anybody else.
At the Fig House, you can have a maximum of 200 evening guests so you can throw one hell of a party and get some really epic dance photos. You can even have a marquee on the lawn in the garden so your wedding will be outdoors no matter what the weather!
