Cockley Wood Weddings is a gorgeous new woodland wedding venue between Huddersfield and Wakefield. It’s one of the only woodland wedding venues in West Yorkshire. This wedding was on the hottest day of the year and everyone had a great time!

The Wedding
The ceremony was a humanist service undercover in the woods. During the ceremony, they read their own vows. It was such a personal service.
They decorated the tree stumps at the entrance with tealights, which I loved. The reception was in a clearing in Cockley Wood – I love this venue because it’s the perfect blank canvas for nature lovers.
Weddings at Cockley Woodland Weddings are amazing because it’s got such a great relaxed atmosphere.
Why Cockley Wood is a Great Place to get Married
Cockley Wood Weddings is perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors and is one of the coolest places to get married in Wakefield. The venue offers it’s own double tipi on-site – and there are so many beautiful spots that are perfect for photos. It also has a fire pit and all the furniture is handmade.
The Party
The couple had a drinks reception in the afternoon and moved into the tipi in the evening. The tipi has such a cosy atmosphere and it’s perfect for an evening party. For dinner, they had proper wedding grub from an outside catering company, and the first dance involved the wedding party getting on the dancefloor to get the dancing going. They finished off the evening with a buffet and marshmallows around the fire pit.
The Couple
Megan wore a stunning lace Justin Alexander dress and Luke wore a suit and bowtie and they looked really amazing.
The couple got in touch with me years ago, and their enquiry really intrigued me. They said they wanted a photographer who would be like a guest, and I loved that they love dogs as much as me. I love photographing laid-back couples who love having a great time!
I was especially excited to photograph at a new local wedding venue! I love outdoor weddings.
Advice for Planning your Wedding at Cockley Wood Weddings
Make sure to ask your guests to wear sensible shoes with wedge heels and wear plenty of suncream if you’re having a summer wedding. Have plenty of bottles of water available for guests to stay hydrated too.
