A Fun Colourful Wedding at a Family Home
If you’re planning a fun colourful DIY wedding at home with an outdoor ceremony, you’ll love these photos for inspiration!
When Laura and Alex first got in touch with me about their wedding, I was so excited – they were planning a beautiful countryside wedding at their parents’ home with an outdoor ceremony and drinks in the garden for the reception. Laura and Alex are the sweetest couple and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
The Excitement Before the Wedding
I arrived at the family home where everyone was getting ready and helping to set up the tipi and ceremony area. It was so chilled out because everyone helped out with the various jobs, meaning Laura could get ready without any stress and even spend time cuddling their dog. Laura wore a stunning Made With Love wedding dress with an awesome pair of Vans, perfect for an outdoor wedding.
The Ceremony
The wedding took place at the bottom of the garden and was a quirky fun service led by the groom’s sister. They had some beautiful readings, which everyone enjoyed. After the ceremony, they walked back down the aisle together as their guests waved bubbleguns in the air, and then the celebrations began.
The couple decided to read their vows to each other in private later in the day which was so lovely to capture just before the sun went down. It also gave me the perfect opportunity for some couple photos in the late evening sun.
The Afternoon
It was a beautifully sunny day, which was perfect for photos. While the guests enjoyed drinks at the bar, the couple mingled and laughed with their friends. My favourite photo from the afternoon is Laura playing with the bubbleguns in the sun. Check it out below!
The wedding reception took place in the tipi in the garden, which was full of colour with disco balls, flowers and a nod to the couple’s love of travel. It was really unique and I loved how much it showed off their personalities!
After the speeches, they had canapes and food from El Kantina, which gave the afternoon a really chilled vibe. They had filled taco bowls which were amazing.
Evening Fun
As the evening drew in, everyone took a shot together and had a dance and then the beer pong table was brought out, which kept everyone entertained into the night. Laura also had a change of outfit for the party, which I loved! At the end of the night, everyone was cosied up next to the firepits with a drink in hand.
Kind Words from the Married Couple
“We’ve just got back from honeymoon and had our first week back at work so this was perfectly timed.
Jenna – these are amazing. You’ve captured the essence of the day so perfectly. We’ve just sat here with a bottle of wine absolutely creased at some of the photos – beer pong was definitely a hit.
Thanks again, so much. We’ve been to weddings before where the photographer kind of takes over and everything is about the perfect shot. But really, you want the photos of the laughter/ chaos/ just genuine moments.
You were an absolute joy and I would recommend you to anyone. Thank you for everything.”
