Hackness Grange Wedding Photos

I’m so excited to share this summer wedding at Hackness Grange.

My couples love colour in their wedding photos, and the more colour they have in their wedding, the more colour they’ll have in their photos too!

This wedding day was so full of laughter and joy, with lots of tears and hugs. Everything a documentary style of photography was made for capturing!

A 19th-Century Manor with Beautiful Scenery

Hackness Grange is a 19th-century Grade II listed Georgian manor house in the village of Hackness, Scarborough. The former dower house is surrounded by hills, with gardens, woodland and even a lake in the 17 acres of grounds.

If you’re looking for a wedding venue located on the edge of the North York Moors National Park area, with stunning surroundings and plenty of outside space, Hackness Grange is the perfect option.

Exclusive use means you and your guests will have privacy and the run of the venue. You’ll be able to explore the lush gardens to your heart’s content and have the perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs.

Incredible Natural Light Getting-Ready Room

Outside of the main manor house, across a small courtyard, is the getting-ready room.

The getting-ready room has space for hair and makeup, with a large mirror and places to hang your outfits.

One wall of this room is entirely made up of windows, with a sheer curtain in place for privacy to stop guests from peeking. This curtain still allows plenty of natural light into the room, making it a dream come true for a wedding photographer.

Soft natural light is the most flattering light, especially for bridal portraits like these.

A Wedding Ceremony in the Outdoor Pavilion

The Pavilion at Hackness Grange is an outdoor wedding ceremony space located on its own island.

Accessed via a bridge over the lake, the pavilion has rustic charm and is covered by a large tented wooden structure. This is perfect for couples who want the beauty of an outdoor ceremony, without worrying about having a backup plan due to bad weather.

The open sides of the pavilion allow beautiful natural light into the ceremony area, making the photos really pop.

The pavilion seats up to 80 guests, with room for more to stand if needed.

On this wedding day, I had enough time to capture the bride and her dad arriving over the bridge before heading back to the front of the ceremony area to photograph them walking down the aisle.

If you prefer an indoor wedding ceremony, The Derwent Suite is suitable for up to 50 guests, whilst larger weddings can take place in the Elizabeth Suite.

Wedding Breakfast in The Elizabeth Suite

The Elizabeth Suite is a bright, airy space that opens out onto the grounds of Hackness Grange. The suite can accommodate up to 120 wedding guests for your reception.

This couple gave the Elizabeth Suite a personal touch, with lots of streamers and multi-coloured table decorations, which looked amazing.

I always love photographing family and friends during wedding speeches, as you can really capture the relationships between them.

Golden Hour Photos at Hackness Grange

The venue’s gardens and grounds include natural meadows with paths maintained in certain areas. These areas are perfect for portrait photo opportunities, especially when the sun starts to set over the hills.

Earlier in the day, I had used a sun tracker app to plan the best time for evening portraits with my bride and groom, making sure the sun would be in the right place for the most magical light.

An Unforgettable Party Atmosphere

This special day was so much fun to capture, and the laughter and energy on the dancefloor were amazing.

Loved ones surrounded the bride and groom in celebration as they hugged. Capturing meaningful images like this is what I love to do as a documentary-style wedding photographer.
