Wedding photography at Wentbridge House Hotel

This couple had their wedding at Wentbridge House Hotel, a luxury country house venue in Went Valley, Pontefract. Wentbridge House was built in 1700 and as well as having several indoor spaces to choose from, it is also licensed for outdoor weddings under the garden folly on their beautifully manicured grounds.

The hotel at Wentbridge House has 41 bedrooms – more than enough room to accommodate your wedding guests. You also have the option to hire the whole venue along with all its accommodation. This way your wedding day can be truly exclusive to you. With that exclusive access, the opportunities for photos throughout the building and grounds are endless.

Wentbridge House Hotel suite wedding prep

I arrived at Wentbridge House bright and early and met the bride in one of the hotel rooms to photograph bridal prep. This is my favourite time of day because there is always an air of excitement about the wedding day ahead. I also love to see what look my brides have gone for and what they have chosen to wear.

She opted for a gorgeous curly half up-do finished with a delicate silver diamanté hairpiece. Her natural make-up was flawless as you can see from the photos!

She had personalised converse with ribbon laces. Her beautiful wildflower bouquet from Botanicals Floristry featured daisies and bright yellow sunflowers. A thoughtful addition to her wedding flowers was a charm with photos of loved ones so they could be with her during the day at Wentbridge.

Whilst the bride was getting ready upstairs, I popped down to another one of Wentbridge’s many hotel rooms to see how the boys were getting on. As I expected they were mostly busy figuring out how to attach their buttonholes. This seems to be a recurring theme with a lot of the weddings I photograph!

Once everyone was ready, the bride invited her dad in to see her in her stunning Anna Sorrano wedding dress for the first time. His reaction was lovely to witness and after a big hug, she gave her dad a tie to wear with a note from her stitched into the back as a memento.

Leatham Suite Ceremony Photography

The ceremony took place in the Leatham suite at Wentbridge House, an elegantly styled airy room bursting with natural light. Wedding guests watched proudly as the couple said their vows and laughed along with them as they both struggled with their rings.

Afterwards, they led their guests to the lawn; the perfect backdrop for photographing their confetti throw. Everyone made the most of the good weather. Children enjoyed running around blowing bubbles at each other and adults enjoyed their drinks.

I managed to whisk the bride and groom away for a few minutes and we photographed some lovely natural couple portraits.

Crystal Suite Reception | Wentbridge House

Their wedding reception was held in the Crystal suite of Wentbridge House, the biggest room they offer. The couple had made their own centrepieces and wedding stationery with each table named after a place they shared a holiday together as a couple. Continuing the travel theme, each place name was handwritten on a luggage tag which corresponded with their world map table plan. They had a stunning 3 tier buttercream cake and of course, more sunflowers adorning every table!

Speeches at Wentbridge took place after the wedding breakfast, with the highlight coming from the bride’s father. After reading aloud some rather cringe-worthy tweets from his daughter’s account about a certain Barnsley FC player he then played a video message from the man himself wishing the bride all the best on her wedding day, much to her horror and to everyone else’s amusement! I just love being able to capture natural reactions like these on camera!

WEDDING GAMES AND A PARTY

Later that evening a cake cart was rolled out along with a couple of full-sized arcade machines, PacMan and Space Invaders. I couldn’t resist having a little go myself but I’m ashamed to say I never made it past the first level on either. I’ll definitely stick to wedding photography!

The happy couple then had their first dance in front of friends and family, followed shortly after by a father-daughter dance.

Kind Words from the Couple

Here’s what the lovely couple had to say afterwards:

“The gallery is just absolutely stunning. Jenna has the ability to blend in with the crowd and capture those fleeting moments forever. Jenna is so friendly and never got fed up of my numerous questions in emails! A lot of these pictures already mean so much to me, not just because they are of our wedding day but because these pictures Jenna took really do speak a thousand words. We thank you so, so much from the bottom of our hearts that you’ve captured our day, our friends and family so beautifully.”

Huge thanks to these two for choosing me for their Wentbridge House Hotel wedding photography! If you’re getting married at Wentbridge House and you’re looking for a photographer, I’d love to hear from you so get in touch!
