In my time photographing weddings in the Yorkshire area, I’ve stumbled upon so many unique and industrial wedding venue gems.
It’s no secret that I love photographing weddings in unique spaces! So I’ve put together a list of some of my favourite industrial wedding venues in the Yorkshire area.
We’re lucky in Yorkshire to have access to so many mills dotted around from the Industrial Revolution, and quite a number of these have been given a new lease of life as wedding venues! So if you fancy a wedding that’s brimming with charm and character, you should definitely check out these venues!
In no particular order, here are some of my favourite industrial wedding venues:
The Arches
The Arches has always been a firm favourite of mine when it comes to industrial style. Part of the Dean Clough Mill complex in Halifax, The Arches is a huge open-plan ground-floor wedding venue with an original stone floor, vaulted brick ceilings and stone walls lined with huge windows. This unique wedding venue used to be part of Crossley’s carpet factory, but don’t worry there isn’t a carpet in sight here now! The Arches is the perfect blank canvas and even with minimal styling, this venue will always look the part.
You can find more information about this venue and see some of the gorgeous weddings I’ve photographed here on my Arches Halifax Wedding Photography page.
The Venue Bowers Mill
Just a few miles away in a valley in Barkisland you’ll find The Venue, a converted textile mill. This aptly named wedding venue is perfect for a rustic-themed celebration. With two separate rooms, The Venue Bowers Mill can host your ceremony and reception with ease. The Spinning Room (pictured) has lots of natural light and original mill features such as the gorgeous wooden floor. The Bowers Room is an enormous open space with high ceilings and lots of natural light from the factory windows on the roof. You can host up to 400 guests here with ease!

Ponden Mill Weddings
Ponden Mill is fairly new to the wedding venue scene. It was lovingly restored by its owners and opened in 2020 after a stint as a cafe until 2008. This is the oldest textile mill in the area of Stanbury near Haworth, Keighley. The main room at Ponden Mill is brimming with character and industrial features with a modern twist making this venue perfect for couples who want something a little bit different and out of the ordinary!

The Engine Shed
The Engine Shed in Wetherby is a truly unique venue with a different kind of industrial vibe! Despite its name, it never actually held any engines. Instead was the Good’s Shed for the Harrogate to Church Fenton railway line. Now a family-run wedding venue, this Grade II listed building has a really great party atmosphere! It’s perfect for couples who just want to have a big party and celebration.

White Syke Fields
White Syke Fields, just outside of York, is a totally unique space for a wedding. It has two completely different spaces to host your wedding, both with an industrial vibe. The Piggery is a small yet bright space with whitewashed walls and rustic beams. Next door, you’ll find The Wheelhouse, a huge converted barn with exposed brick and industrial girders. Both these spaces have so much styling potential. The surroundings on this working family-run farm are also beautiful. With woodland, fields and a lake on-site too, you and your guests will love this venue.

Standedge Tunnel
Standedge Warehouse on-site at Standedge Tunnel and Visitor’s Centre is three floors and has amazing views of the Huddersfield narrow canal below. The top floor where ceremonies take place is light and bright. It has a more contemporary feel with a white sloping wooden roof and floor. One floor down, the room has a more industrial feel to it with stone walls and wooden floors and ceilings. If you’re after a unique experience, you and your guests can travel to the venue on narrow boats from the centre of Marsden.
