The Peak District is home to so many incredible locations for couple shoots. Whether you’re engaged and looking for pre-wedding photography, or you just love spending time with your partner outdoors and want photos that reflect that, there are plenty of breathtaking views to choose from. So, I’ve put together a guide to my top locations and some of my favourite spots in the area.

As a photographer, I’m so lucky to have this area of outstanding natural beauty right on my doorstep. I love photographing couples surrounded by nature and amazing panoramic countryside views. Plus, what could be better than having a full gallery of amazing photos just waiting to be printed, framed, and hung on your living room wall?!
The Peak District is roughly the size of Greater London and spans five whole counties, so narrowing your choice down to just one shoot location is no easy task. Here you’ll find lots of inspiration to help you choose the perfect spot for your couple or pre-wedding session. So, here are a few of the best locations in the Peak District for photography.

Stanage Edge
Stanage Edge is really popular viewpoint in Hope Valley the centre of the Peak District National Park. Just North of Hathersage, Stanage Edge stretches around 4 miles long and is equally popular with walkers and rock climbers. If you’ve seen Pride and Prejudice, you may recognise the amazing views!
It’s a great location for a pre-wedding shoot as these stunning views are just a short 15-minute walk from the Hollin Bank Car Park. The car park is pay and display but it is free after 6pm which is when I met up with Emily and Henry for their engagement photoshoot in the evening sunlight in April.
We made the steady climb up to the top and embraced the wide-ranging views in their images before heading back down the same way through the trees and catching the last of the sunlight over the hills.
Curbar Edge
Curbar Edge is a breathtaking location for your pre-wedding photography shoot – literally because it’s so windy! But it’s worth braving the cold for the incredible views of Hope Valley when you’re standing at the edge.
Meg and Luke joined me for their pre-wedding shoot on a glorious summer evening. Curbar Edge is a popular tourist spot just outside of Sheffield. It’s perfect for families as it’s just a short walk from Curbar Gap National Trust car park. The huge flat rocks there are perfect to sit on and have a picnic.
If you have your pre-wedding shoot in the spring/summer months, the sun will set over the valley making it the perfect spot to capture all that lovely golden light. Just make sure to plan for a sunny evening with good visibility and no cloud cover!
Burbage Bridge
Hazel and Marc had their pre-wedding photography session at Burbage Bridge. Burbage Bridge is a lovely area in the Peak District, just outside of Sheffield. With Hazel working as an ecologist and Marc being a keen hiker and climber, it was the perfect location for their shoot. We had such a relaxed, fun session as they were totally at home in the landscape!
We spent their sunny evening session wandering around Upper Burbage, which is perfect for photos because of its amazing sunset potential. It’s a very accessible spot and parking is free at Upper Burbage Bridge car park, so what’s not to love?
My Pre Wedding Photoshoots
Your couple pre-wedding photography shoot can take place anywhere you want – not just in the Peak District area.
Your session can be where you and your partner got engaged, or it could be your favourite city centre spot! Either way, my pre-wedding shoots are always laid back, and they’re a great opportunity for us to get to know each other more so you feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
