Relaxed wedding photography from a summer pub & marquee wedding at The Inn at Whitewell. The Inn at Whitewell is nestled deep in the countryside in the stunning Forest of Bowland. It has stunning views of the Ribble Valley and the River Hodder flows right past.
The Inn at Whitewell – the perfect country wedding venue
I can honestly say that I loved photographing this wedding at The Inn at Whitewell, Clitheroe. As a Lancashire wedding venue, it’s pretty much perfect. Its primary function as a pub/restaurant means it has a warm and friendly atmosphere, perfect to make you feel relaxed in your photos. Don’t worry though, you wouldn’t be sharing a tap with the locals of Whitewell on your wedding day! The Inn at Whitewell has a permanent marquee structure attached which is perfect for an awesome private wedding reception. You’d even have access to your own beer garden!
The Inn at Whitewell is licensed to hold civil ceremonies which is perfect if you wanted everything to be held at one venue from start to finish. But maybe you were planning on a church wedding? No problem! They have a church LITERALLY right next door. What if you need accommodation for your guests? They have 20 rooms available and a coach house off-site! And nothing could be better than the view of the Inn at Whitewell’s proper countryside surroundings and famous stepping stones over the river.
If you haven’t checked the Inn at Whitewell out already, make sure to add a viewing to your potential wedding venues as you won’t regret it! My partner and I visited in the summer with our dog (yes, the Inn at Whitewell is dog friendly too!) and had a quick drink before a short walk across the famous stepping stones and through the rolling hills. Jet gave the stepping stones a go and decided they weren’t for him so bumbled through the river Hodder instead, much to the amusement of the other walkers!
BRIDAL PREP AT THE BEAUTFUL INN
This lovely couple married at the Inn at Whitewell in August. As it turns out they weren’t actually planning a wedding but being regular customers they discovered there was a last-minute cancellation so it seemed like fate! They didn’t have far to travel either as the groom owns the farm right next door. There would not have been a more perfect option for these two. I was so pleased when they found me on social media and asked me to do their wedding photography.
The bride got ready with her two daughters in one of the rooms above the pub. She had the most amazing dress and hairpiece and her gorgeous bouquet was made by a *very talented* friend of hers. The light in the room was really great for wedding photography too.
Relaxed pub CEREMONY
They had their Lancashire wedding ceremony in the Inn at Whitewell’s dining room, although once it’s dressed you wouldn’t even know people ate their Sunday lunch in there.
marquee wedding DRINKS RECEPTION
Afterwards, their wedding guests grabbed a pint from the bar on their way through to the marquee for the drinks reception. The rest of the day consisted of food, drink, laughter, speeches, hugging (I know, crazy thought right) and dancing of course! Wedding photography in the marquee is a dream because there’s so much natural light.
The couple definitely stayed true to their country roots because they chose to have two unconventional wedding cakes. One was made from cheese and one was actually just a tower of pork pies! I will say it’s still the most unique take on a wedding cake I’ve ever seen. Speaking of pies, however, I can highly recommend The Inn at Whitewell’s cheese and onion pie. It was hands down the best pie I’ve ever had! Sorry, mum.
The couple had open-mic style wedding speeches so all of their friends got involved. It was a lot of fun to photograph the reactions!
RELAXED WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE GARDEN
We didn’t have to venture far for their couple photos, instead, we found a bench in the beer garden with a gorgeous backdrop that did the trick! These are my favourite images from their wedding day as they both look so relaxed and happy together!
FAIRY LIT FIRST DANCE PHOTOGRAPHY
The marquee fairy lights made for the perfect party atmosphere and an even better backdrop for photographing their first dance. Afterwards, everyone else joined in the fun on the dancefloor.
All in all, The Inn at Whitewell isn’t one to miss and I’m dying to be back there photographing again soon. So if you’re wedding planning and this piques your interest, drop me a line and let’s chat about your day!
